Norway's DNO targets increased North Sea presence, makes offer to take over Faroe Petroleum
Dubai — DNO ASA, a Norwegian oil and gas exploration and production company active in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, has made a cash offer for the remaining shares of Faroe Petroleum.
DNO operates the Tawke and Peshkabir fields in the KRG, and has proven reserves of around 384.1 million barrels of oil equivalent and gross production of 125,000 b/d.
The purchase of Faroe Petroleum will expand DNO's presence in the North Sea, where Faroe has assets. Faroe's 2-17 daily production across the UK and Norway averaged at 14,300 b/d.
DNO acquired a 28.7% share in Faroe in April this year, but Faroe has been unwilling to give board representation to DNO, DNO said.
"DNO has both publicly and privately raised its concerns about the corporate governance culture and shareholder value strategies at Faroe, but to no apparent avail in terms of substantive and timely actions," the company said in a statement.
"Against this backdrop, DNO has now decided proactively to address these concerns and protect its sizeable investment in Faroe by offering to acquire all the outstanding shares in Faroe that DNO does not already own," the company said in the statement.
