Australia plans its first multi-GW hydrogen asset
Fortescue metals Group has announced plans to build align="justify"> The proposed Global Green Energy Manufacturing Centre (GEM) is to be built by the company’s green energy subsidiary, Fortescue Future Industries.
GEM will consist of wind turbines, long-range electric cabling, solar panels and electrolysers.
The first phase of six will bring the asset’s capacity to 2 GW.
Construction is to begin in February 2022, with power beginning to be generated in H1 2022.
Initial cost of GEM will be around USD 83.5 million, with total costs of the project ranging around USD 730 million
