Fall observed in U.S. crude oil stockpiles in past week
On Wednesday, Jun. 9 the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported that U.S. crude oil stockpiles fell in the week concluding June 4.
U.S. commercial crude oil stockpiles, ruling out those in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, fell by 5.2 million barrels from the prior week, stated the Weekly Petroleum Status Report.
At 474 million barrels, U.S. crude oil stockpiles were nearly 4 percent under the five-year average for this time of year.
Overall motor gasoline stockpiles were raised 7 million barrels in the past week and were around the same as the five-year average for this time of year, said the EIA. Finished gasoline and blending components stockpiles both soared in the past week.
