Australian energy retailer AGL has signed a long-term charter with Hoegh LNG for a floating storage and regasification unit to be deployed at its proposed LNG import project at Crib Point in the state of Victoria, the company said Friday.

ASX-listed AGL is AGL's plan recently encountered a hurdle with the Victorian Labor government calling for another round of environmental review called an Environmental Effects Statement. Other projects in the pipeline are Australian Industrial Energy's plan for Port Kembla in New South Wales, Integrated Global Partners' South Australian Pelican Point plan, and ExxonMobil's Victoria-based project. Earlier this month, South Korea's EPIK signed a deal to study the feasibility of an import terminal at the port of Newcastle in New South Wales.
