西部天然气公司发言人周四表示，该公司的液化天然气出口计划是该公司Equus天然气项目的一部分，该项目有足够的资源，在20年内每年供应200万吨的液化天然气。该消息人士补充说，液化天然气设施的规模和位置仍在考虑之中。
此前，西部天然气公司于12月12日宣布与麦克徳莫特国际公司和贝克休斯就共同开发Equus项目签署了一份谅解备忘录。
根据公告，最终的投资决定计划在2019年底或2020年初做出，第一批天然气供应计划在2023年底或2024年初。
该项目还在着眼于供应澳大利亚国内的西部市场。
西部天然气公司表示，位于卡那封盆地的私有Equus天然气项目包括约2万亿立方英尺天然气和4200万桶凝析油资源。
西部天然气公司执行董事Andrew Leibovitch在声明中表示：“该协议旨在提供钻井、海底、海上加工、近岸液化天然气生产以及一条通往海岸的民用天然气供应管道。”

Western Gas plans to export LNG from Australia from 2023-2024
Western Gas is planning to supply LNG from western Australia to Asian markets via a new export facility by 2023-2024, joining a growing number of energy companies looking to bridge a global supply deficit forecast for the early- to mid-2020s, as Asian demand continues to expand.
Western Gas' LNG export plans are part of the company's Equus Gas project, which has sufficient resources to supply 2 million mt/year of LNG over 20 years, a spokesman for the company said Thursday. The size and location of the LNG facility are still being considered, the source added.
These comments follow Western Gas' announcement December 12 of a memorandum of understanding signed with McDermott International and Baker Hughes for the development of the Equus project.
A final investment decision is planned for late-2019 or early-2020, with first gas supply scheduled for late-2023 or early-2024, according to the announcement.
The project is also looking at supplying the domestic western Australian market.
The privately-owned Equus Gas project, in the Carnarvon Basin, comprise resources of approximately two trillion cubic feet of gas and 42 million barrels of condensate, Western Gas said.
"The agreement is for the provision of drilling, subsea, offshore processing, near shore LNG production and a gas pipeline to shore for domestic gas supply," Western Gas' executive director Andrew Leibovitch said in the statement.
"McDermott and BHGE were also awarded a contract to support the planning phases of the project and pre-FEED studies will commence immediately," the company said.
