French oil major Total SA is in talks with several parties to buy a stake in a liquefied natural gas terminal in India, chairman and CEO Patrick Pouyanne said Tuesday.
He declined to name the companies it is in discussions with, but said Total wants to sell LNG from its global portfolio to Indian consumers to cater to growing demand for the fuel in the country.
On October 14, the Press Trust of India reported, citing sources, that Total was in talks to buy up to half of Adani Group's stake in LNG projects in the states of Gujarat and Odisha, an LPG terminal under construction and city gas projects in India. Adani Group was not immediately available for comment.
