意大利位于南部天然气走廊的末端,一条将中亚天然气运输往西欧的管道,但这届新政府曾在之前表示对该项目的怀疑。
一位政府消息人士在周三向路透社表示，虽然政府现在正致力于这条管道，但它或将寻求改变管道的路径以限制该项目对环境的影响。
活动人士抗议管道的接通将会导致南部意大利的橄榄树林毁坏。
消息人士表示：“我认为他们将会移动（管道）以避开橄榄树。”
