S. Korea's Oil Refinery Companies Likely to Post Biggest Deficit due to COVID-19
South Korea's major oil refinery companies are feared to post the biggest deficit this year due to the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The combined deficit of SK Innovation, GS Caltex, S-Oil and Hyundai Oilbank came to four-point-eight trillion won as of the end of the third quarter.
SK Innovation was hit hardest with its deficit reaching two-point-24 trillion won, followed by S-Oil with The oil refinery firms are facing a serious crisis as the pandemic pulled down oil demand around the world.
With the grim market condition, factories of the four companies were operating at 71-point-six percent capacity in October, down from 83-point-eight percent in January.
