Sasol Brings Last Unit of Louisiana Project Into Operation
Sasol Ltd. said Monday that the low-density polyethylene unit at its Lake Charles chemicals project in Louisiana achieved beneficial operation Sunday.
The unit was the last of seven to be brought into operation, the South Africa-based petrochemical and energy company said. The unit was damaged in a fire during commissioning in January, it said.
The Lake Charles project is now fully complete, with total capital expenditure forecast within the previous guidance of $12.8 billion, Sasol said.
Production from the low-density polyethylene unit is an important milestone for a planned expansion into the U.S. polymers-production market by a joint venture between Sasol and Lyondellbasell Industries NV, Sasol said.
