U.S. Oil Inventory Draw Falls Short of Expectations
U.S. inventories of crude oil fell by less than expected during the week that ended Dec. 7, according to data released Wednesday by the Energy Information Administration.
Crude-oil stockpiles decreased by 1.2 million barrels to 442 million barrels, and are now about 7% above the five-year average for this time of year, the EIA said. Analysts surveyed by The Wall Street Journal had predicted crude stockpiles would fall by 2.8 million barrels from the prior week. The American Petroleum Institute, an industry group, reported late Tuesday that its own figures showed inventories fell by 10.2 million barrels last week.
