DJ Chevron Sets $20 Billion Capital and Exploratory Budget for 2019
Oil producer Chevron Corp. (CVX) plans to spend $20 billion toward capital and exploratory projects next year.
The San Ramon, Calif.-based company announced Thursday it has budgeted the money for its capital and exploratory spending program in 2019.
"Our investments are anchored in high-return short-cycle projects, with more than two-thirds of spend projected to realize cash flow within two years," Chairman and Chief Executive Michael K. Wirth said in prepared remarks.
about $10.4 billion is forecast to be spent in the upstream business to grow producing assets, including $3.6 billion for the Permian and $1.6 billion for other shale and investments.
about $5.1 billion of the upstream program is planned for capital projects under way, including $4.3 billion at the Tengiz field in Kazakhstan.
Global exploration funding is expected to be about $1.3 billion. The rest of the upstream budget will be spent for early stage projects.
about $2.5 billion of the planned capital spending will be for the company's downstream businesses that refine, market and transport fuels, and manufacture and distribute lubricants, additives and petrochemicals.
