Marathon mulls combining its Permian crude pipeline with Plains/ExxonMobil joint venture
Marathon Petroleum said Tuesday it is in "exploratory discussions" with ExxonMobil and Plains All American to "combine efforts" for a Permian-to-US Gulf Coast crude pipeline in the interest of capital efficiency while reducing the risk of pipeline overbuild.
Marathon's head of Andeavor Logistics, Don Sorensen, said Marathon's MPLX has a stake in the PCG, along with Delek, Energy Transfer Partners and Magellan, which is expected in-service in the fourth quarter of 2020. The line is expected to run from Midland, Texas, to Nederland, Texas,ExxonMobil and Plains in June joined forces to build a 1 million b/d pipeline to deliver crude and condensates from multiple Permian Basin locations to the Texas Gulf Coast by late 2020 or early 2021.
