Mexico's Pemex Swings to Third-Quarter Profit
Mexico's state oil company Petroleos Mexicanos made a profit of 27 billion pesos ($1.4 billion) in the third quarter, an improvement over the 102 billion-peso net loss in the year-earlier period thanks to higher sales and operating gains, and a stronger Mexican peso.
Sales increased 33% from the third quarter of 2017 to 439 billion pesos, largely as the result of 63% higher income from crude oil exports as the average price-per-barrel rose to $66.23 from $46.01.
Operating profit nearly doubled in the quarter to 54 billion pesos, and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization rose 39% to 161 billion pesos.
