DJ Oil Bounces Back From Six-Week Low
Oil prices rose Prices had tumbled after the U.S. Energy Information Administration said late Wednesday that U.S. crude-oil inventories rose unexpectedly. Stocks increased by 3.8 million barrels last week, to 409 million barrels. Traders and analysts surveyed by The Wall Street Journal had predicted an average weekly decline of 2.2 million barrels.
Part of the recovery was driven by traders reacting to chart patterns, said Kyle Cooper, a consultant for ION Energy. U.S. futures fell to their 100-day moving average of around $67.90 a barrel, before rebounding.
